Ivy - Out n' About
- By Yasser Aboraya -
For the past couple of months there has been a number of new fine dining spots opening-up in Cairo and Ivy is one of them. For someone who prefers this segment of restaurants I found Ivy to be actually pretty good.
First of all, the place itself is extremely chic, comfortable, and welcoming. The best part is that it is never too crowded (mainly due to the prices). However, compared to other fine dining locations like Kazoku or Strada, its pretty savvy.
The menu is very simple and easy to navigate and it spans a number of plates ranging from poultry to meat to sea food. Portions however (as expected from this segment of restaurants) are not fulfilling enough which is why you need to order an appetizer with the main course to just fill your hunger without feeling overly bloated.
Trying a fried chicken appetizer and a beef fillet, the food tasted pretty good but the fillet was slightly undercooked. Presentation was good and the garnishing was just right; simple and exciting without taking the attention away from the main ingredients.
Ivy Also serves alcoholic drinks (both imported and local) and they have an interesting range of desserts that are definitely worth a try. Overall, it’s a great spot for a date, business dinner, or a slightly expensive night-out with the buddies.
